南洋陈氏宗亲总会在仰光举行纪念陈嘉庚诞辰一百五十周年茶话会
Association of South Ocean Chen(Tan) Clan held a symposium in Yangon to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Tan Kah Kee
南合之光消息，今年是爱国侨领陈嘉庚先辈诞辰一百五十周年，南洋陈氏宗亲总会在仰光可可亲王府举行纪念陈嘉庚先辈诞辰一百五十周年茶话会，共同学习了纪录片《中国脊梁，民族光辉》。总会执行理事长、南合组织主席陈恩田分享了陈嘉庚先辈在1940年于缅甸华侨中学和仰光庆福宫发表两次演讲的往事，赞扬陈嘉庚兴办高校、团结南侨筹赈抗敌、投身新中国建设等光辉事迹。茶话会发布了由陈恩田执笔创作的新歌《爱国侨领--陈嘉庚》。
The Light of SSCO News, this year marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of patriotic overseas Chinese leader Mr. Tan Kah Kee. Association of South Ocean Chen(Tan) Clan held a symposium at Prince Coco's Mansion in Yangon to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Tan Kah Kee, and studied the documentary film “The Backbone of China, the Glory of the Nation”. Mr. Chen Entian, Executive Chairman of the Association and Chairman of SSCO, shared the two speeches delivered by Mr. Tan Kah Kee in 1940 at the Overseas Chinese High School in Myanmar and at the Kheng Hock Temple(Kheng Hock Keong) in Yangon. He praised Tan Kah Kee for founding colleges and universities, uniting overseas Chinese, raising funds to fight against the enemy, and joining in the construction of new China. The symposium released a new song “Patriotic Overseas Chinese Leader - Tan Kah Kee” written by Chen Entian.

Chen Gengming, Permanent Honorary Patriarch of Yingchuan General Hall, Myanmar, and Permanent Honorary Chairman of Nanyang Secondary School Alumni Association; Chen Zongren, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Chen Clan Grand Ancestral Hall, Myanmar, and President of Wayside Bar Restaurant, Yangon; Chen Shifu, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Yingchuan General Hall, Myanmar, and Sunjie Chen, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Hall of Directors of Yingchuan General Hall, Myanmar, and Chen Wuhan, Vice Chairman of the Myanmar Chinese Merchants Association and Managing Director of the Oriental School; Huang Ruxin, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Huang's Jiangsha Hall, and Chief Principal of the Oriental School, Huang Ailing, former Principal of Oriental School, Aye Thinzar Thu, Chairwoman of Myanmar Art and Cultural Association, and representatives of Association of South Ocean Chen(Tan) Clan, Myanmar Belt and Road Development Company Limited, Indo-Pacific Tobacco Company Limited, and SSCO Management Company Limited attended the symposium.
茶话会结束后，陈恩田接受了世界日报中文网采访，他表示：爱国侨领陈嘉庚先辈是陈氏后生晚辈学习的榜样，也是世界华人华侨奋斗的楷模，我们要把嘉庚精神运用到当前事业中，开创更加辉煌的南合组织。陈恩田还说：不久前，我和陈嘉庚先辈的曾孙陈铭宗长在成都会面，我们一起回顾了陈嘉庚先辈的光辉事迹，探讨了我们当前的使命。我很同意他的观点，我们不能躺在先辈的功劳簿上，我们要开创更加光辉的事业，留给后代更加丰富的遗产。
After the symposium, Chen Entian was interviewed by World Journal Chinese. He said: “The patriotic overseas Chinese leader Tan Kah Kee is a role model for the later generations of the Chen family to learn from, and also a model for overseas Chinese to learn from. We need to learn the spirit of Tan Kah Kee to promote our career and create a more brilliant SSCO.”“Not long ago, I met with Tan Kah Kee's great-grandson, Chen Ming, in Chengdu, where we reviewed Tan Kah Kee's glorious deeds and discussed our current mission. I agree with him that we should not dwell on the achievements of our forefathers; we have to create a more glorious career and leave a greater legacy to future generations.”
