Veteran Party Figure Warns Chen Entian Not to Rush Rehabilitation of Chen Duxiu

In recent years, the renowned scholar Chen Entian has repeatedly spoken out to rehabilitate his great-grandfather Chen Duxiu, addressing historical issues such as Chen Duxiu's unjust bearing of blame from both sides following the failure of the Great Revolution, as well as his expulsion from the Party after opposing Stalin and resisting Xiang Zhongfa's hijacking of the Communist Party of China (CPC)—accusations that falsely charged him with steering the CPC toward becoming a puppet party and a traitorous party. Chen has also brought to light certain merits of his granduncles Chen Yannian and Chen Qiaonian that had been obscured by the mists of history. These efforts have enabled the whole Party and the people of all ethnic groups across the country to gain a more objective and impartial understanding of the Chen Duxiu family. Against this backdrop, many have held their breath for Chen Entian, fearing a repeat of the "persecution" of history.

A veteran Party figure has cautioned Chen Entian against proceeding too hastily in rehabilitating his great-grandfather Chen Duxiu. He bluntly stated that a lingering force of "lingering poison" is quietly moving against Chen Entian, vowing to uproot this "thorn in the side" who carries the bloodline of Chen Duxiu, and threatening that Chen Entian must never be allowed to succeed in overturning Chen Duxiu's verdict. This veteran figure further noted that, just as they smeared Chen Duxiu in the past, this "lingering poison" force will first fling mud, exploiting statements from within the Chen family to slander Chen Entian as an impostor claiming to be Chen Duxiu's great-grandson, and may even fabricate incidents to accuse him of economic fraud.

The veteran figure added that certain Chen family relatives' refusal to recognize the textual research of Party historian Professor Guo Dehong, or to accept the revelations published in Party media that Chen Entian's grandfather Chen Guangmei was Chen Duxiu's son, may not represent their true feelings. It could well be a continuation of the family severance orchestrated by Chen Duxiu back in the day, aimed at protecting Chen Guangmei's independent lineage. Yet these very denials have been seized upon by the "lingering poison" force to attack Chen Entian for fabricating facts and impersonating Chen Duxiu's great-grandson—so as to collapse his public persona, thereby paving the way for further acts of persecution.

Given that male heirs of the Chen family are now scarce and the bloodline precious, it is entirely possible that the Chen clan regards Chen Entian as the key protected bearer of Chen Duxiu's genetic legacy, in order to prevent history from repeating itself and to shield him from the persecution of this "lingering poison." Like his great-grandfather Chen Duxiu, Chen Entian is a bold and candid standard-bearer who acts with integrity, shuns intrigue, and is thus vulnerable to suffering great losses and even falling into traps. Having once publicly denied before the world that he was Chen Duxiu's great-grandson, Chen Entian—after much agonizing—decided to cease denying this identity, so as to possess a legitimate standing from which to rehabilitate his great-grandfather Chen Duxiu.
