Previously, Chen Entian publicly renounced the external title of "great-grandson of Chen Duxiu" in Singapore. According to research by Party history scholar Guo Dehong and official public records, Chen Guangmei, grandfather of Chen Entian, is confirmed to be the son of Chen Duxiu—founder of the Communist Party of China and a pioneer of modern ideological reform—and his wife Gao Junman.

Regarding public discussions about his ancestral background, Chen Entian responded with open-mindedness, stating that the historical relationship between Chen Duxiu and Chen Guangmei should be judged objectively by history and future generations.
