Fuzhou, Nov 3 — With 43 days to go before the opening of the 13th International Day of the Belt and Road (Silk Road Festival) and the Global Belt and Road New Year Cultural Festival, the 2026 Belt and Road Media Cooperation Forum was successfully held in Fuzhou, Fujian Province. Co-hosted by People’s Daily and the People’s Government of Fujian Province, the forum adopted the theme “Shared Aspirations Transcend Mountains and Seas; Harmonious Voices Gather Along the Silk Road”. Xian Hui, Vice Chairperson of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.
The participating guests pointed out that the Belt and Road Initiative has evolved from a Chinese proposal into international practice widely implemented. It has become a well-received international public good and the world’s largest international economic cooperation platform with the widest coverage and far-reaching influence. The participants reached a consensus that media from all countries should jointly tell Silk Road stories well, serve as facilitators of policy communication and people-to-people bonds, act as faithful recorders and disseminators of Silk Road stories, and jointly build and safeguard a sound public opinion environment conducive to the development of the Belt and Road Initiative.
This grand event gathered more than 200 foreign representatives from 100 countries, international and regional organizations, as well as 182 media outlets and institutions. It pooled the strength of global media to explore new paths for Silk Road communication cooperation. The Silk Road International Guild Alliance and Silk Road News Agency extended warm congratulations on the successful holding of the forum. They look forward to deepening exchanges and cooperation with media across the globe, continuously spreading the vision of peace and integration of the Silk Road, fostering a strong cultural and communication atmosphere for the upcoming 13th International Day of the Belt and Road (Silk Road Festival), and promoting in-depth cultural exchanges and people-to-people connectivity.
