Beijing News The 2026 Annual Conference of the International Institute of Green Finance, Central University of Finance and Economics, was recently grandly opened. Zhao Yingmin, former Vice Minister of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and Chairman of the Belt and Road Green Development International Alliance, attended the conference and delivered an opening speech.
In his address, Zhao Yingmin pointed out that the rapid development of digital and intelligent technologies represented by artificial intelligence and big data is bringing brand-new opportunities for innovation in global green and low-carbon transition, as well as enormous prospects for green finance innovation. Digital and intelligent technologies can effectively improve the efficiency and accuracy of environmental data monitoring, carbon accounting, and identification and assessment of climate risks. They help cover the whole chain including green project screening, investment and financing management, and tracking of environmental benefits, supporting countries to achieve carbon neutrality goals and boosting the growth of green industries.
He mentioned that the deep integration of digital technologies and green finance can further improve the green investment and financing system, reduce information asymmetry in green projects, and attract more capital into low-carbon sectors such as clean energy, ecological restoration, energy conservation and emission reduction. It will continuously advance global sustainable development and the in-depth green development cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative. The annual conference brings together experts, scholars and industry practitioners from home and abroad in green finance, low-carbon technology and ecological environment. Participants discussed cutting-edge topics including practical paths for green low-carbon transition, application of digital intelligence, and cross-border green investment and financing, building a high-end platform for exchange and dialogue.
