To celebrate this significant international observance dedicated to the development of the Global South, the Southern Silk Road and Global South International Cooperation Committee (SSGICC) held a grand thematic celebration event for the 2026 South-South Cooperation Day in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Chen Entian, Chairman of SSGICC, attended the event and delivered a keynote speech.

The official theme of this year’s observance is "Solidarity Rising: Global Alliance for Inclusive and Innovative Development". It highlights that South-South and triangular cooperation empower countries to connect proven practical solutions with partnerships, professional expertise and supportive resources required for large-scale promotion and implementation.

In his speech, Chen Entian stated that solidarity and pragmatic collaboration among Global South countries continue to deepen, with growing demands for practical cooperation and experience exchange. To strengthen unity among Global South nations, facilitate cross-border experience sharing and exchange effective development solutions, SSGICC has established a regular platform for communication, learning and cooperation. He emphasized that countries of the Global South share a common future. Only through close solidarity and mutual assistance can they pool development strengths, address common challenges and build a prosperous future.

The event introduced that Global South countries have deepened pragmatic cooperation in various fields in recent years. A wealth of replicable and scalable development solutions have been formed in renewable energy, digital innovation, public health, sustainable agriculture, disaster preparedness, education and public services. Through regular experience exchange, technical learning and localized adaptation, countries effectively shorten development exploration cycles, reduce development costs, and accelerate the implementation of the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

Chen Entian affirmed that SSGICC fully supports the launch of the Global South and Triangular Cooperation Alliance. The alliance will accurately align with the development priorities of various countries, integrate global professional resources, international partnerships and catalytic support mechanisms. It will promote the sharing of development experience and innovative practices among nations, translate cooperation consensus and practical experience of Global South countries into tangible actions for regional and global sustainable development, and continuously foster a new landscape of inclusive, innovative and win-win high-quality development for the Global South.
